Notification No. 17/2002-Central Excise, Dt. 1/3/2002

Seeks to provide effective rates wherever duty rate has beenreduced in the First Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act,1985.

G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act,1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, herebyexempts the goods falling under heading No. 09.02 of the First Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of1986), from so much of the duty of excise leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule, as is inexcess of the amount calculated at the rate of one rupee per kilogram.
