Amendments in the Ntf No.21/2002-Cus., dt. 1st March, 2002 seeking to exempt all goods, imported under heading 98.01 of First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975.

G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the erstwhile Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 21 / 2002-Customs, dated the 1st March, 2002, namely:-

In the said notification, in the Table, after S. No.401 and the entries relating thereto, the following S. No. and the entries shall be inserted, namely:-

“401A.98.01Drinking Water Supply Projects for supply of water for human or animal consumption

Explanation.- For the purposes of this exemption, Drinking Water Supply Project includes a plant for desalination, demineralization or purification of water or for carrying out any similar process or processes intended to make the water fit for human or animal consumption, but does not include a plant supplying water for industrial purposes.
