G.S.R. (E)- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Exicse Rules, 1944, namely:-

1.

(1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2001.

(2) They shall come into force on and from the 14th day of March, 2001.

(Note:- Please refer Rule 1)

2.

In rule 49 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), in sub-rule (1), in clause (a), for sub clause (iii), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:-

"(iii) during the second fortnight of March, by the 31st day of the said March".

3.

In rule 173G of the said rules, in sub-rule (1), in clause (a), for sub clause (iii), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:-

"(iii) during the second fortnight of March, by the 31st day of the said March".
