NOTIFICATION


No. F.2(1)/19/2002-EPZ: The Government of India hereby constitutes a Special Economic Zone Development Board, (hereinafter called “Zone Development Board”) for each of the Special Economic Zone consisting of the following members :

(1) The Development Commissioner of the Zone.

(2) Deputy/Assistant Commissioner of Customs posted in the zone

Member
(3) two officials nominated by the State Government concerned

Members
(4) A nominee of the developer

Member


The Zonal Board may co-opt any other department or agency and representatives from interested groups such as Units, residents within the Zone, as special invitees, as it deems fit, for any specific purpose.

Powers and functions of the Zone Development Board

2. To secure the development of the Special Economic Zone, the powers and functions of the Board shall be as under:

(a) to approve import or domestic procurement of goods and services for development, operation and maintenance of infrastructure in the Zone without payment of duty or tax;

(b) to monitor utilisation of materials imported/procured as per (a) above;

(c) to co-ordinate with other departments and other agencies for the smooth implementation of the projects;

(d) functions as may be delegated by the State Government or its agencies;

(e) any other function as may be notified by the Central Government.

The Development Commissioner shall exercise such powers and perform such duties as may be delegated to him by the Central Government or the State Government.
