DGFT SION SION General notes (upto 31/03/2002) General Notes for Leather Products

1. Wherever import of Zip Fastener is allowed in specific cut length, the same will be allowed on net to net basis or with wastage indicated in the norms, if any. However, in case the same is imported in running length / coil form, 1% wastage will be allowed. In cses, where import of Zip fastener is not specifically permitted in the norms, the same may be allowed on Net to Net basis. In the duty free licence the description of the Zip fastener, brand, whether open or closed ends, whether metallic or non-metallic i.e. made of Aluminium or Brass or synthetic i.e. Nylon or polyester etc.

2. Wherever import of Thermo plastic sheets have been allowed for manufacture of counter and Toe caps / puff, Thermo plastic cut components may also be allowed with a wastage of 2% as an alternative of Thermo plastic sheets.

3. For the purposes of import as preservative or presenting agent, as the case may be, against export of leather the following items will be permissible for import.

1. Thicynto Methyl Thio Benzo Thoizol (MCMTB) 30%/20%.
2. 2 Octyl Iso Thiozoliet 3-one(OITZ).
3. Orthopenyl Phenate (Mixture or OPP+DCMC).

4. Against export of Leather goods / garments where the lining material has not been specifically permitted in the norms, the relevant lining materials may also be permitted on Net plus 5% wastage basis.

5. Wherever import of any kind of Lining, Waddling is allowed, the type, specification etc. should conform both in imports and exports.

6. Wherever import of Dyes have been allowed, the same would mean Dyes of 100% strength(assay). In addition to quantity limit fixed, the CIF value of dyes shall not exceed 6% of FOB value of exports.

7. For manufacture of leather products, whereever a request is made for import of processing chemicals for making finished leather, the same may be allowed as per standard norms available at Sl.No. G7(a) or G7(b), as the case may be, provided the final leather product of manufactured out of finished leather made from Hide of Cow / Buffalo or Skins of Goat / Sheep / Calf in the exporter"s own tanning unit or in the tanning unit of exporter"s supporting anufacturer so declared and endorsed in the DEEC book.
