Import Licensing Notes 88

(1) Aircraft and Helicopters (including used/second hand aircraft and Helicopters) may be imported by the following without the need to obtain an import licence from the Director General of Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

(a) Air India

(b) Indian Airlines

(c) Vayudoot Limited

(d) Pawan Hans Limited

(e) National Airports Authority

(f) International Airports Authority of India

(g) Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Academi (IGRUA)/and such other flying clubs/Academies recognised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India

(h) Any person who has been granted permission by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, for operating scheduled or non-scheduled air transport services (including air taxi services) for import of aircraft or helicopters, subject to the condition that the import of the aircraft or helicopter and their use is in accordance with that permission.

(i) The Aero Club of India.

(2) The import of aircraft by any other category of importers shall require an import licence to be granted by the Director General of Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

(1) Import Policy for Aircraft and Helicopters

Public Notice No. 274 dated 23.02.95

Attention is invited to Sl. No. 1 in Section J (Miscellaneous Item) of Part II of Chapter XV of the Export and Import Policy April 1992-March 1997 (incorporating amendments mad upto 30th March, 1994) under which the import of Aircraft and Helicopters is permitted only against a licence or in accordance with a Public Notice issued in this behalf.

2. In supersession of earlier Public Notice No. 10-ITC(PN)/92-97 dated the 30th April, 1992, it is hereby notified that aircraft and helicopters may be imported by the following without the need to obtain an import licence from the Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce Government of India.

(a) Air India

(b) Indian Airlines

(c) Vayudoot Limited

(d) Pawan Hans Limited

(e) National Airports Authority

(f) International Airports Authority of India

(g) Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Academi (IGRUA)/and such other flying clubs/Academies recognised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India

Explanation:

For the purpose of this public notice, this expression “air craft and helicopters” appearing therein shall be deemed to include used/second hand aircraft and helicopters.
