Import of betel nuts from Myanmar : DGFT removes port restrictions for border trade with retrospective effect from 29/02/2007

S.O. (E) - In exercise of powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy-2004-09, the Central Government hereby amends Schedule-I (Imports) of the ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2004-09 as under:

1. Import of betel nuts from Myanmar, under provisions of Public Notice No. 289 (PN)/ 92-97, dated 10.04.1995 for Border trade, shall not be subject to Port Restrictions notified under Notification No 49 (RE-2006)/ 2004-09 dated 20.02.2007, Notification No.12 (RE-2007)/2004-2009 dated 10.07.2007 and Notification No.25 (RE-2007)/2004-2009 dated 29.08.2007.

2. The above exemption from application of port restriction is made effective retrospectively, from 20.02.2007.

3. This issues in public interest.
