Items of Import against SIL in the previous policy classified as Restricted (unless they are made free) except Import Gold & Silver by Authorised Agencies.


S.O (E) - In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items , 1997-2002 published on 31st March, 1997 (RE-98) as amended from time to time, namely –

“1.
Import of all such items which were earlier allowed against surrender of SIL and not included in Notification No. 2(RE-2001) dated 31.03.2001, shall be restricted. However, import of gold and silver by nominated and authorized agencies by the RBI / Ministry of Finance shall continue to be free.
2.
The following shall be added at the end of Appendix V to Schedule 1 of ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002:
