Customs (Fees for rendering Services by Customs Officers) Regulations, 1998-reg.

Attention of all the members of Public and trade is invited to the Customs (Fees for rendering Services by Customs Officers) Regulations, 1998, which interalia, provides for levy of overtime fee for rendering services by Customs Officers beyond the normal working hours or at a place beyond the Customs area.

2. The provisions of this Regulation have been examined by the Government of India and it has been decided that henceforth, the practice of collection of overtime fee for the Customs Officers posted at the gates of the docks for the supervision of the movement of cargo shall be discontinued.

3. The “working hours” have therefore been prescribed as 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year working for Customs in relation to supervision of movement of cargo at the gates of docks and no overtime fee would be levied for the same.

This Public Notice comes into force w.f. 29.01.2002
