Discussion in the Watch Dog Commitee -reg.

During the discussion in the Watch Dog Commitee meeting held on 29.05.2002, it was discussed that the Authorised Representative, Trade, Industry, CHA and Steamer Agents etc. while signing the letters and documents are generally not mentioning their name in BLOCK LETTERS and designation below their signatures. It is noticed that generally an authorised person signs the letters, documents etc. on behalf of the Importer, Exporter and/or the Company Partnership firms. From such signatures, it becomes impossible to know as to who has signed the documents and what is his designation/status.

2. In view of this it is notified that the members of Trade, Industry and their representatives, CHAs and their representatives, Steamer Agents and their representatives etc. while signing the letters, documents etc. would invariably mention his NAME IN BLOCK LETTERS ALONGWITH HIS DESIGNATION BELOW HIS SIGNATURES. The proprietor or Partner of the firms may mention their status below the signatures. Similarly, in case of companies and like legal entities, the person signing the documents/ letters should indicate his designation.

3. On the same analogy the Custom Officers would also mention their name and designation in BLOCK LETTERS while signing the documents/letters etc. The suitable instructions in the regard have already been issued to the Custom officers.

4. All the Trade Associations should bring the contents to the notice of their member constituents.
