SUB: REQUESTS MADE FOR AMENDMENTS IN THE EDI SHIPPING BILLS AFTER SHIPMENTS – REG.

1/- It has been brought to notice that many exporters are requesting for amendment in the weight, quantity, description and like details and data in the S/Bills and therefore issue of a manual shipment certificate after shipment of the cargo.

2/- The issue has been examined by the competent authority incharge of EDI system and it is opined that such changes after post shipment are not possible in the system.

3/- Considering the limitation of EDI software and the system, all the members of the trade are hereby informed that utmost care and precautions should be taken by them while making entries in the Annexure to the Shipping Bills to ensure that the details etc. declared are proper and correct. This S/Bills and its Annexure correct in all respect should be submitted to the service center for feeding into the system.

4/- Once shipment is allowed and E.P. copy is printed, no correction in data, description etc relating to the relevant shipment can be allowed and consequently there cannot be justification for issue of manual shipment certificate. The export promotion copy of the shipping bill as such is given to them and there can not be any other shipment document with changed data.

5/- All the earlier PNS issued on this issue which are inconsistent with this P.N. stand modified to the extent stated above.
