Written examination Under Regulation ‘9’ of the CHALR-1984-reg.

All the Customs House Agents who are holding Temporary Licence Under Regulation 8 and Regular Licence Under Regulation 10 of Custom House Agent’s Licencing Regulations 1984 are hereby informed that the date of written examination Under Regulation ‘9’ of the CHALR-1984 has been fixed on 14.06.2002 from 10.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. at New Custom House, Ballard Estate, Mumbai – 400 038.

2. The Custom House Agents holding Temporary Licence under Regulation – 8 and Regular Licence under Regulation 10, who have not exhausted their “3” (THREE) attempts, may submit the names of their nominees for appearing in the said exams.

As such the following persons having valid Custom Pass are eligible to appear for these exams :

    01. Proprietor/Partner/Director of the Temporary CHA Licence.

    02. Partner/Director of the Regular CHA Licence.

    03. Employee of the CHA having qualified in the Category-I exam and holding Power of Attorney on behalf of the Temporary/Regular Licencee.

3. It may also be noted that in terms of P.N. No. 44/97 dated 15.9.97 and Circular No. 62/98 dated 28.8.98, a nominee should be a ‘GRADUATE’ from a Recognised University. All the nominees are therefore directed to submit attested copies of their Graduation Certificates alongwith their applications.

4. The Proprietory Concern/Partnership Firm/Companies should nominate only one candidate on their behalf.

5. Maximum marks for both the written and oral tests would be 100 and the minimum passing marks would be 50 in each test and the candidates are required to pass separately in the written and oral test. Only those candidates who qualify in the written test would be called for the oral test.

6. In case where the holder of Temporary CHA Licence fails to qualify in three attempts within a stipulated period of two years from the date of issue of their Temporary CHA licence, their licence will automatically lapse with effect from the date of publication of results of the written examination or the oral test as the case may be.

7. Further a fee of Rs. 500/- (Rs. Five Hundred only) is required to be paid per candidate intending to appear in the aforesaid examination. Challans for this purpose may be obtained from the P & E (CHA) Deptt. From 31.05.2002 to 06.06.2002 during the Office Hours.

8. Information regarding Roll Nos. and Seating arrangements would be displayed on the notice board of the THE PERSONNEL & ESTT. DEPTT. (CHA), NEW CUSTOM HOUSE, MUMBAI – 400 038 on 10.06.2002. The application should be furnished in the prescribed format given at Annexure I to this notice for each candidate separately alongwith the photocopy of his Custom Pass duly attested by the Licencee himself as well as attested copy of GRADUATION CERTIFICATE.

The application should reach this Office latest by 27.05.2002. The applications receive thereafter will not be entertained under any circumstances.

ANNEXURE – I


1. Candidates who intend to appear for the examination on 14.06.2002 at 10.00 a.m. should be present at the Examination Hall atleast half an hour before the scheduled time.

2. Candidate who intend to appear for the said examination should bring Temporary/Regular CHA Licence and Custom Pass with them.

3. No books/notes or other papers of any kind shall be allowed to be taken inside the examination hall. Any attempts to indulge in malpractices during the examination shall automatically disqualify the candidate and Temporary/Regular licence would be cancelled.

4. Candidates found taking resources to any unfair means in the examination hall shall rendered themselves liable for expulsion at the direction of the invigilator. No candidate shall intentionally or unintentionally extend or receive from any other candidates, any unfair assistance in the examination hall.

5. The examination will be of 3 hours duration and the timings will be from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
