PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 91/2000 Date:04.09.2000

Procedure in case the goods are not cleared, warehoused or transhipped within 30 days after unloading-reg.

Attention of all the members of trade/CHAs is drawn towards the provisions of Section 48 of the Customs Act, 1962. The Customs Act provides the procedure in case the goods are not cleared, warehoused or transhipped within 30 days after unloading.

In this context, it is hereby informed to all concerned that if any goods brought into India form a place outside India are not cleared for home consumption or warehoused or transshipped within 30 days from the date of unloading thereof, or within such further time as the proper office may allow, or if the title of any imported goods is relinquished, such goods may after notice to the importer and with the permission of the proper officer be sold by the custodian viz.MBPT or CONCOR or any Public Warehouse Corporations.

Aforesaid procedure is subject to the exception provided in Section 48 of Customs Act,1962 in respect of animals, perishable goods, hazardous goods, and arms and ammunition.

All the members of the trade, officers and custodian are requested to carefully note aforesaid stipulation and take appropriate follow up action as may be required in pursuant of above provisions.
