PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 02/2004 DATE : 13.01.2004

All the Custom House Agents are hereby requested to submit on or before 31.01.2004 a list/application of their present employees who are holding provisional (Temporary) Custom passes in form “H” and who have not qualified in the Written Exam of Objective type (Category-II) under Regulation 20 (3) of the Custom House Agents Licensing Regulations, 1984, and would like to avail of the opportunity now. The list of applicants may be submitted in the following format:-

2. The employees appearing for the Category-II examination shall have to appear for the Written Exam of an Objective Type of 75 minutes duration, consisting of 50 question. Each question will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The qualifying marks will be 80 marks, i.e 40%. All the Custom House Agent are accordingly requested to ensure that their employees prepare themselves for the said examination.

3. Custom House Agents are hereby informed that their employees who are holding provisional custom passes in form “ H” are required to qualify in the examination under Regulation 20 of CHALR-1984 in 4 opportunities (maximum number) from the date of issue of Custom passes to them. It is also informed that those employees who have failed to qualify in the last three examinations under regulation 20 of CHALR-1984 must ensure that they appear and qualify in the ensuing examination failing which their Custom Pass will be cancelled. In case any one does not appear for this examination, it will be counted as if they have availed this last opportunity.

4. The Roll Nos., time, date and venue of the Written Examination will be displayed on the Notice Board of the CHA Section of the Custom House in due course of time. Further the listed eligible candidates are required to pay Rs. 100/- as an examination fee (per candidate). The CHA/Candidates are therefore directed to obtain this information from the Notice Board, as the CHA/Candidates will not be informed separately.

5. The earlier Public Notice No. 148/2002 dated 26.12.2002 may be treated as withdrawn.

6. The applications shall be enclosed with a copy of the Custom Passes and in the prescribed format. Applications, which are not in the prescribed format or are received after 31.01.2004 will not be entertained under any circumstances.
