Uptodate Information and Several New Features

Attention of the trade and general public is invited to the Public Notice No. 25/2003 dtd. 04/03/2003 regarding the Mumbai Custom House website http://www.mumbaicustoms.gov.in/

2. In order to provide more facilities to the trade and general public and in line with the trade facilitation measures adopted by this Custom House we are making continuous efforts in providing uptodate information and several new features have been added to our website. Following is a brief of the details available on the website.

(i) " About us " folder indicates the history of the Mumbai Custom House , the Organisational structure as also the Vision of this Custom House.

(ii) The Organisational hierarchy along with the names of senior officers and the charges held by them is indicated in the "Commissionerate" folder . The folder contains information separately for each of the three Commissionerates working in the New Custom House i.e. Import Commissioner, Export Commissioner and Commissioner of Customs (General).

(iii) "Trade facilitation" folder gives the various measures adopted by this Commissionerate for tracking cargo, enquiry regarding status of the Bs/E and S/Bs along with the text of queries raised. The telephone numbers for Tele-enquiry for status of Bs/E and S/Bs are also indicated. Redressal mechanism for grievances as also the officers who can be contacted for the same are also indicated. In addition to the above the Minutes of open house meetings held by the Chief Commissioner of Customs I are also available for reference.

(iv) "News Section" folder indicates the recent changes in the laws and procedure relating to Export and Import.

(v) Certain "Custom Procedures" regarding Assessment , Warehousing, Valuation, Penal provisions are also indicated in the relevant folder.

(vi) "CHA News" folder indicates the list of Custom House Agents and the regulations governing them.

(vii) "Knowledge Base" folder gives the list and details of all relevant Acts, Notifications both DGFT and CBEC as also the upto date Public Notices issued by this Custom House from the year 2000.Various Publications relevant to the functioning of the Customs such as the EXIM Policy , Drawback Schedule, Custom and Excise Tariffs are also indicated therein.

(viii) "Travellers info" folder indicates guidelines for the use of passengers. Information such as allowances, list of prohibited goods, duty on various goods and provisions/conditions for allowing certain items as baggage as also the penal provisions for illegal imports are indicated herein.

(ix) "Report Smuggling" folder enumerates the advantages of reporting information of any kind of smuggling as also the various anonymity measures adopted by the department and the list of contact persons.

(x) "Contact Us " folder indicates the various office locations , list of Telephone numbers , Email addresses of senior officers and form provides a for grievance redressal /complaints /suggestions.

(xi) The last but not the least the "Related Links" folder gives links to all the relevant websites such as the CBEC, DGFT websites as also those of other Custom Houses both in India and on foreign Customs.

3. In addition to the above standing features "Breaking news" relevant to Mumbai Custom House are mentioned on the website.

4. All efforts are being made to make this website upto date and providing all information relevant to the trade. All the members of the Trade and Public are therefore requested to access the Custom House website www.mumbaicustoms.gov.in for making themselves abreast of the latest information about the Custom House.
