Cassia, Cinnamon, Cloves, Tejpat Import against surrender of SIL - NAFED, STCL may import without surrender of SIL


In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development andRegulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 4.1 of Export and Import Policy,1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items 1997-2002, published on 31st March, 1997 and asamended from time to time.

In partial modification of Ministry of Commerce Notification No. 20/97-02 dated on 22nd October, 1997 in the last column "Import under SIL / public Notice" against Exim Codes 09061001 "Cassia" 09061002 "Cinnamon bark"; 19061003 "Cinnamon tree lowers" 962000 "Crushed or ground "; 09070001 "Cloves extracted "; 09070002 "Not extracted (other than) 09070003 "Cloves stems" and 09104001 "Tejpat (leaves of cassica lignea)" shall be amended to read as under:-

"Import permitted against Special Import Licence (SIL). In such case, c.i.f. value of the surrendered Special Import Licence (SIL) shall be five times of the c.i.f. value of the imported goods. However, National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (NAFED)/ Spices Trading Corporation Limited (STCL) may import without surrender of SIL."
