Sugar Imports - All Contracts to be Registered with APEDA

In exercise of the poers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development andRegulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 4.1 of Export and Import Policy,1997-2002, the Central Government hereby notifies the following amendment in the "ITC (HS)Classification of Export and Import Items 1997-2002, published on 31st March, 1997 and asamended from time to time.

1. The following remarks shall be added against the Heading Description of Exim Code 17.01 inChapter 17 of the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import items, 1997-2002.

"However, all sugar import contracts shall be compulsorily registered with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)".

This issues in public interest.
