POL CIR NO. 37/(RE-98)/1998-1999 Dated 04-9-1998

Sub:
Condonation of delay in filing the applications for grant of DEPB, Special Import License etc. during the pen down strike from 2.7.1998 to 13.7.1998 - Regional Offices.
Sir

It has been reported by Regional Licensing Authorities that during the strike period from 2.7.1998 to 13.7.1998 many of the exporters were unable to submit the applications for DEPB, Special Import License etc. within the time limit prescribed in the policy and as such those applications will become time barred. In accordance with Paragraph 15.17 of the Handbook of Procedures, 1997- 2002, (Vol.1), applications received after expiry of prescribed date of receipt, but within six months from the last date, may be considered after imposing a late cut @ 10% on the entitlement.

2. The matter has been considered and it has been decided that while calculating the time limit for filing the application, strike period from 2.7.1998 to 13.7.1998 shall not be counted.

3. This issues with the approval of Director General of Foreign Trade.

Yours faithfully ( L. B. Singhal )
