DEPB/-Marine Products Export Allowed Provisionally

Sub: Provisional shipment under DEPB pending fixation of DEPB rate.

Attention is invited to paragraph 7.50 of Handbook of Procedures (Vol.1), (RE-98) 97-2002 which inter alia prohibits exports under the DEPB Scheme unless the DEPB rate of export product is notified.

Representations have been received from marine product exporters that DEPB rate for the marine products have not been notified and consequently the shipments are not allowed under the DEPB scheme even provisionally in view of the conditions stated in paragraph 7.50.

The matter has been re-examined in view of the fact that the DEPB rate for the marineproducts is to be notified shortly and the export produce is perishable in nature. It has been decided that the export of marine products under DEPB scheme may be allowed provisionally by the Customs provided the same is covered under S.No. D1, D2 and D3 of the Standard Input Output Norms. The Public Notice to be issued prescribing the OEPB rates on marine products shall also cover the shipments effected between 13.4.98 and the date of issue of new Public Notice.

This issues with the approval of DGFT.
