Value caps for Automotive tyres and tubes

To

1) All Licensing Authorities,
2) All Commissioner of Customs,
3) Automotive Tyre Manufactures Association
4) Chemicals & Allied Products Export Promotion Council

Sir,

Attention is invited to value caps fixed in respect of export products-Automotive Tyres and Tubes covered under Sl.No.534 & 535 under the Chemical Product Group of Appendix 28 A of the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.I. In this regard Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association has been representing that the term “pair” against the Column of value caps in Sl.No.534 may be corrected to read as “a set of tyre and tube” and that the same against S.NO.535 may be corrected to read as “per piece”. It has also been represented that Customs & Licensing Authorities in various ports are giving different interpretation to this term and the exporters are facing undue hardship in getting DEPB Credit on exports made since the introduction of value cap in these entries.

2. The matter has been considered by the DEPB Committee and accordingly it is clarified as under:

    (i) In Sl.No.534, the term “per pair” appearing under column of value cap shall mean “a set of one tyre and one tube” and not “a pair of tyres” or even “a pair of tubes”;

    (ii) In Sl.No. 535, the term “per pair” under the column of value cap shall be corrected to read as “per piece”

3. This issues with the approval of DGFT.
