Representations received from the trade that Customs Notification No.45 of 2002 should not be made applicable to exports made up to 31/3/2002 had been taken up through the DGFT with the Revenue department. It is learnt that the Revenue department has now agreed to this and instructions in this regard are likely to be issued very soon by the DGFT and necessary changes in the computer software used for issuing DEPB are also being made at DGFT Headquarters.

Exporters who have received DEPB against exports made up to 31/3/2002 from this office with the endorsement of Customs Notification no.45 of 2002 under the relevant paras of Chapter 4 of the EXIM Policy and Handbook of Procedures 2002-2007 may submit their DEPBs for necessary amendment of the same and endorsement of the relevant paras of Chapter 7 of the EXIM Policy and Handbook of Procedures 1997-2002 and Customs Notification no.34 of 1997. Applications for such amendments shall be disposed of within 3 working days from the date of submission at the respective counters in this office from which the DEPBs were originally collected from 3/5/2002 onwards.
