TRADE NOTICE NO.12 Dated:- 7-1-2000


Kind attention of the Trade is invited to the Public Notice No. 39/RE-99/1997- 2000 dated 16th November, 1999, regarding changing / updating the entries already made in the certificates for Importer Exporter Code Numbers issued so far by all the Regional / Zonal offices. It has been decided to withdraw the earlier Trade Notice no. 11 dated 7.12.1999 issued by this office and simplify the procedure further :

2. The procedure for updating the IEC data is as follows :

(i) Open the home page at DGFT web-site viz. http:/www.nic.in/eximpol.

(ii) Link IEC online addition/updation.

(iii) Rectify / update the information already given.

(iv) After making necessary corrections on the web-site, a hard copy should be sent to the concerned licensing authority for post verification.

3. The documents required to be submitted to the office of the Zonal Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, Mumbai for validation of IEC data are as under :

A. In cases where there is no change/updation, the IEC holder should submit the following documents :

(a) A hard copy after making the necessary entries in the web-site in case no details of IEC data is available in the relevant web-site format.

(b) In case IEC details are available in the web-site hard copy may be submitted suggesting no change.

(c) Photocopy of the IEC and

(d) Photocopy of PAN number.

B. In the case of modification/updation in the existing Importer Exporter Code Number, in respect of (i) the name of the firm / company: (ii) address of the firm / company and (iii) addition of branch office / division-details thereof, the following documents are to be submitted :

(a) Appendix I.A

(b) Appendix II.A without photographs, bank certificate, T.R. Challan and declaration.

(c) Hard copy after making the necessary entries in the web-site.

(d) Original Importer Exporter Code Number

(e) Photocopy of PAN number

(f) Supporting documents for modification in the IEC

C. In the case of modification in the existing Importer Exporter Code Number, other than sr. no. 3(B) above, the IEC holder has to submit the following documents :

(a) Appendix I.A

(b) Appendix II.A without photographs, declaration, T.R.Challan and bank certificate

(c) Hard copy after making the necessary entry in the web-site

(d) Photocopy of the Importer Exporter Code Number

(e) Photocopy of the PAN number

(f) Supporting documents for modification in the IEC

4. The exporter / importers who have already been assessed by Income Tax Authorities for previous assessment years but have not obtained PAN numbers from Income Tax are required to approach their respective assessment circles and obtain the PAN numbers immediately.

5. The exporters / importers who have not yet been assessed by the Income Tax Authorities and do not have PAN numbers are required to approach the Income Tax Authorities at RCC, Bandra Kurla Complex, for obtaining their PAN numbers expeditiously. Necessary advice in this respect has been given to the Income Tax Authorities.

6. The Trade is hereby informed that the last date for updating IEC is extended up to 31.01.2000 as per Public Notice No. 43 dated 15th December, 1999.

Since this is a time bound operation, all exporters and importers are advised to follow these guidelines and submit their application in time so as to avoid any complication after the expiry of the relaxation period granted.

The Trade is hereby informed that new Importer Exporter Code Numbers will not be issued to applicants who have not been allotted Permanent Account Number by the Income Tax Authorities.
