Circular No.56/1997-Cus.date 28/10/97I am directed to refer to Board's Circular No.133/95-Cus. dated 22-12-95 issued from File No.434/54/95-Cus.lV on the above subject. The matter has been re-examined in the Board on representation from Ministry of Commerce. It has been decided to rescind para 7 of the Circular. However, to cope up with any emergency pertaining to import and export, the Commissioners are authorised to declare, temporarily, any place in the jurisdiction of a port or airport as a Customs area for loading or unloading of the goods under Section 8(b). Such authority may be exercised in emergencies.
