Identification and assessment of safeguard duty
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 8B of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) read with rules 12 and 14 of the Customs Tariff (Identification and Assessment of Safeguard Duty) Rules, 1997, the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed, shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table.

3.	109/98-Customs, dated the 24th December, 1998	In the said notification in paragraph beginning with the words "Nothing contained in this notification shall also apply to" and ending with the words "other than Singapore", for the words "goods originating in and imported from" shall be substituted.
4.	82/98-Customs, dated the 30th June, 1998	In the said notification in paragraph 2, in clause (b), for the words "from countries notified as", the word "from and in respect of the goods originating in countries notified as" shall be substituted.
